I think you're right that a factor is the way we parent, moreso to do with the father figure's role. I keep thinking that we keep talking about good mothering, but society is really in need of good dads right now.

Not trying to claim that fathers are responsible for the demise of society, but I do think it plays a large role. When we have good role models from the beginning, and expect equally good parenting out of men, I think equality comes more naturally and bad cycles are weeded out.

Also, 100% agree- Alanis is a gift to the world. She's probably healed many through her music :)
